Great fight for the final episode of the season, pretty much like Karate Kid where he gets beaten up like crazy only to make a final absolute killer move lol

Jalaluddin Aris • 2 years ago

Hope there’ll be a 2nd season soon. By the way Karate Kid now continue on TV series called Cobra Kai which was actually quite good. I’ve only manage to watch 1st season. I’m still couldn’t find the platform to watch 2nd season for free yet.

*cough* put *cough* lockers *cough cough*

there are a lot of websites out there that let you watch for free. The only problem is dealing with the popups and not knowing what they'll download to your pc when your using them. If you've got a good firewall that shouldn't be a problem though as it's pretty good at catching them.

Also if you have a firestick Tv I can tell you of a app to download where you watch any show, or movie for free. Already seen all season of Cobra Kai lol.

This kinda remind me of Bruce Lee tho, but that fight was dope I like how at the end she showed great sportsmanship toward him in admitting defeat tho still teasing him I hope season 2 they actually become friends.

Sad that this has ended, even if there's way more series out or coming out now. Hurt my heart seeing your comment saying it was the final episode even though I knew. They need to make a sequel for sure.

I was so hyped for him to see his future wife, and then he saw her but it was not meant to be at that time for their reunion smh. They know what they're doing, making us wait for this long awaited moment of master and teacher with each other!! I fear she might die before then though, she's tough as tungsten or titanium but she isn't impenetrable 😏, I mean invincible lol. Wang has to get stronger, better and more proficient at fighting if he wants to help her any type of way, and he's far off from being useful right now.

Gah dang though, Tang is into some serious shii, wtf has she done and/or got into that so many organizations so angry and want her so badly?! It's crazy how they're sending out so many groups of people (security, military, assassins, etc...) just to kill little ol' her!! She's in serious danger if the big guns and top heads coming out (though she's been whipping these weaklings like flies as a gangsta like her should aha). Hopefully Wang joins and helps fight together with her or she beats all her enemies so they can reunite. What if that "god" guy at the end might be Tang's father, or grandfather, or uncle or some family member?? I forget if she talked about her family or not, but she has to know these people somehow.

But yeah you're right, there's a lot of similarities with this and karate kid indeed.

Dase • 2 years ago

Netizen in China have speculated that she will be back in season 2

In the novel, Tang Zichen is The leader of the Tang Clan, also a master of the national arts, she is also an instructor for several international special forces, a Southeast Asian mobster and a world smuggling giant which is why you have people going after her lol

It is ironic that I said that in jest back when the series started, instead of old Mr Miyagi with a bonsai trimming hobbt we have a beautiful woman that has an intriguing hobby who trains a boy that is being bullied

OfficialDrixMalone • 1 year ago

I just came back to rewatch some of the episodes because it's so good and saw your comment aha. Sorry for the late reply, but hopefully she comes back, or he's stronger in S02 to go after her himself.

But I skipped the spoiler since I want to start S02 fresh and explore each episode for the first time. This is a journey I'll gladly take as the story unfolds little by little, I like to try and guess throughout the series and see if I'm right each episode. Thanks anyway though!!

It's fine lol, I know you are not big on spoilers

vio • 2 years ago

That was a good analogy to use by comparing this first season to karate kid as it could be used for both the first and second movies due to the counters that Wang Chao used when fighting her.

Dase • 2 years ago

:) I kind of saw the similarities there lol
Then again I jokingly said in the synopsis page that this was like Karate Kid, instead of Mr Miyagi we have Tang Zichen teaching a kid that's being bullied lol

Great fight and great camaraderie after the fight. Unlike many Donghua where they always fight to the death. This is more realistic.

Awesome fight!!!

Fantastic!!

wwlaos • 2 years ago

That ending was a bit overly dramatic, but I loved the fight and the camaraderie afterwards. Hoping this gets a second season, and soon.

Cheif Cao was so proud. ^_^

...I'm jealous of that guy who got to massage her thigh between rounds. >_>

Second time watching and I couldn't stop smiling when I saw those two rivals hugging each other on the stand. The excitement & Joy was so contagious. Well done Wang Chao!!

Aerlis Ambrosius • 2 years ago

That was just embarrassing. Wow. He really showed her. He repeated kept hitting her hand on his face! Way to use your head there Wang Chao! By the time that was over I wasn't even rooting for him anymore!!

And what is the deal with making the big fight with the big rival against a girl? Is that sexist? Well I don't know...let me ask you this, if there is supposed to be some kind of equality of the sexes, why did the girl never get hit in the face? Not even once! For a fight lasting 2 episodes.
No bruises. Just a couple of little pushes to the tummy. ffs they should have just given him a male rival to fight against if they were going to do this.

edit: oh wait I spoke to soon. Looks like AFTER they declared him the winner, she gets up and magically has a little bruise on her chin...where he never hit her. Nice.

vio • 2 years ago

I wouldnt say its sexist, even though the majority of girl fights include hair pulling, some have trained to do more than that. The first time I ever saw a female martial artist was due to an actress called Cynthia Rothrock in a movie called China O'brien, then I saw
Michelle Yeoh and Maggie Q.

In regard to the fight seen in this anime, it was due to the red haired woman taking advantage of him and airing his humiliation online in an advertisement to gain more popularity and potential profits. The only way for him to redeem himself was to fight the muay thai girl again and win which is why he used the book to get her to agree to the fight at all costs. The choreography for the fight as you said didnt focus on him hitting her face but rather on counters and tai chi to use her movements against her which is why we saw her thrown around a couple of times. Also, I just want to point out that he won the fight the exact same way that Tang Zichen beat her in the first episode.

Aerlis Ambrosius • 2 years ago

Yes, fair points, but the fight did not match my aesthetic of what it should have been. Watch a few YouTube videos of men & women fighting MMA in a ring or in the Army and you will see what I mean. Based on the last couple of episodes and the scene of broken dummies this episode, and on what we know of his plans, we know mc prepared very well for this fight. He ought to have been able to put up more of a fight and the whole damn thing was just embarrassing. I could accept him losing the fight, but not winning like this. She beat the living crap out of him and he never even hit her face?! What the hell is that?
Furthermore, I am a martial artist and have practiced a variety of styles for decades...including Tai Chi. While I may not be the greatest expert at least I can tell you that while most Tai Chi players couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag...that is millions or maybe tens of millions...there are maybe a few hundred people in the world who know how to use Tai Chi to fight. But even for those millions of Tai Chi players who never fought, at the very least I can say that Tai Chi does in fact include strikes to the face. Of course the premise of his masters skill in this fictional story is talking about "Ting Jing" of "Listening Skill" that is the Tai Chi skill of understanding what your enemy is about to do...while they are doing it. It is a fairly difficult and very subtle skill that usually involves a lot of energy work and "push hands" partner practice to listen to your partners energy. So that is the sort of goal here in this part of the story. But even still, you are allowed to punch your opponent in the face. Tai Chi also does include a couple of kicks and some powerful elbow strikes that are also a throw. Those power elbow strikes are, in my opinion, Tai Chi's greatest offensive weapons. But again 99.999% of all Tai Chi exponents couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag...and that includes their teachers.

vio • 2 years ago

Not trying to be disrespectful by saying this, but most of the time I've always thought of Tai Chi as nothing more than a form of exercise and it was thanks to a movie I watched in the past called Tai Chi master with Jet Li that made me think differently. I cant say its a good martial art to learn because all of them have their strengths and weaknesses and in the end it comes down to personal preference. I did judo at first as a kid and then moved on to karate for about 6 months before I realised my own limitations and the limitations of that style. Due to that, I'm actually jealous you got to try so many styles because I have a gimpy left leg that gives me balance trouble and a stiff ankle that wont let me rotate or bend it properly lol
In regard to watching men and women fight MMA style, I didn't watch them because I already understand what you mean from watching multiple martial arts movies/tv series's previously.

Aerlis Ambrosius • 2 years ago

Yes, while I practice Tai Chi...as I said, most practitioners (even teachers) couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag! This is truly unfortunate, because in the 1920's in Shanghai, China - it was a bald, 80 year old fat man named Yang Chengfu who was the #1 supreme martial artist in the world! He was (no joke) like a real life version of one of these cultivation novel mc's! There are so many incredible events that he did which were witnessed by hundreds of people. In one such event he took his children and grandchildren to the silent, black and white movies. He thought it was fascinating. While walking with dozens of family members he was attacked by a gang. This was not an uncommon occcurance as he had the reputation of being the #1 fighter in the world, so many fighters wanted to be the one to kill him, to get his fame...even if they had to use overwhelming numbers to do it! These guys had swords, spears, sticks, knives, syou name it! Wang Chengfu was unarmed. They threw a net over him. Not just any net but one with metal barbs on it! Wang Chengfu fell down and rolled down the hill, completely entangled in the barbed net. All the fighters chased him down the hill, each one wanting to be the one to deliver the killing blow!
Yang Chengfu used his internal strength to tear apart the net, stand up and defeat every one of his attackers...who were all attacking him all at the same. And he did this on purpose, all to lure the killers away from the rest of his family.
Now you might say that's a nice story, but there is maybe a bit of exaggeration? Well, I don't know, I wasn't there...I wasn't even alive. However, this and many other events were very public and witnessed by hundreds of people. So, no matter what the real story is - I think there is something to it.

Anyways, Yang Chengfu was so famous that he eclipsed the Chen family whose village actually invented Tai Chi. Master Yang popularized the "Yang style" of Tai Chi and extolled the virtues of the practice as a health benefit for seniors. And that is what lead to Tai Chi being a household name, practiced by literally millions of people. But it did at one time have a strong foundation as a killer martial art. But as I said, there are maybe only a few hundred people in the world today who can fight with it.

That was an interesting post, thanks for sharing. if it was a biography movie I'd definitely watch it providing it's not like 'sister streetfighter'. That movie was just bad as it covered martials arts but as they were fighting they were teleporting around like they were dragon ball Z characters.

Aerlis Ambrosius • 2 years ago

Yes, there are a lot of interesting stories about Yang Chengfu. There are even some of his real events that made it into other peoples stories and kung fu movies. One such event is his "bird taming" technique. The story goes that he likes to train his "Listening Jing" (same technique Tang Zichen uses) train that using a bird in the palm of his hand. He would hold his hand out with a bird on it. Then, the bird would have to bend its little legs to do a little jump before it opens its wings to fly away. People would observe Yang Chengfu hanging out in his back yard with a bird on his outstretched hand. They thought he had a domesticate pet bird, but when he was done with training his "Listening Jing" the wild bird would fly away, clearly not a domesticated pet! The idea was that his "Listening Jing" was at such a ridiculously high level that every time the bird would attempt to fly away by pushing off his hand, he would instantly negate the birds little jump by lowering his hand just the tiny amount of the jump, thus preventing the bird from flying away! Since the motions were so small, most people couldn't actually see him doing anything. This exact scene has found its way into movies in the last 30 years with the mc being various other masters. However, I don't know of any story of any real life master who ever did this besides Yang Chengfu. He's the only one.

Another real life story: You know traditional Chinese houses have an upright wooden board in the threshold (the middle) of a doorway? I think this might have been something to do with keeping rats out, not really sure. But one day a guest came to visit Yang Chengfu and was brought by his family to see him in his back yard. They sat down at a table in the backyard to chat together. While they were talking his daughter went inside to make tea for them. When she brought out the tea she tripped over the board in the threshold of the doorway. Yang Chengfu stood up, caught his daughter and also caught the tea. Not a single drop was spilled! Not 100% sure if I remember correctly, but I think this scene also found its way into some Chinese kung fu movies.

vio • 2 years ago

That bird martial arts reminded me of 'Last Hero in China' when jet li was fighting like he was an actual chicken. I've also seen that bird not being able to fly away in another movie too but cant think of the name of it and the same for the woman being caught then the tray of tea cups plus the tea because she tripped. I didnt know that they were associated with Yang Chengfu, I only thought that it was something they added for a little more entertainment.

Aerlis Ambrosius • 2 years ago

Nope. Pure Yang Chengfu legends. Of course this was in Shanghai, China in the 1920's and of course I wasn't there to say what really happened. But many of his more famous exploits occurred in public and had many witnesses.
